Client: The Gordon Highlanders Museum
Project: Replica World War One Trench
North Group were appointed as the main contractor on a unique cultural heritage project. Collaborating with a world-class military museum, the works included the formation of a replica trench system from the First World War as part of its visitor experience.
This was an exciting and unusual project for our team of multi-skilled trades professionals. The completed scheme will be an emotive addition to The Gordon Highlanders Museum, conveying the challenges of life within the confines of the trenches. The aim is to evoke a greater understanding on the horrors of war to a new generation of visitors.
The project was completed in 10 weeks.

Project: Refurbishment of Media Room
Location: Bon Accord Square, Aberdeen
North Group have just completed the full refurbishment of the media room at the Befriend a Child offices on Bon Accord Square, Aberdeen.
Within the media room our team installed new shelving and doors, along with flooring and electrical works. On top of this our joinery workshop produced brand new bench seating and wall shelving for within the media room and we created a night time sky effect on the roof. We also painted and papered the media room.
This was a fantastic project to be involved and was completed
within three weeks.

Project: Fit Out of Wild Ginger Indian Restaurant
Location: Union Street, Aberdeen
North Group recently completed the fit out of a new Indian Restaurant, Wild Ginger on Aberdeen’s Union Street, which is the sister restaurant to the Echt Tandoori.
Before the project could start our team were involved with the strip out of the previous restaurant in preparation for the works to commence on site.
Our on-site team then made various alterations within the premises, including the construction of new partitions and alterations to the existing ceiling.
A new glass entrance door and internal doors were installed, along with new floor coverings, decoration works to walls including wall vinyls and the fit out of all new bathrooms. New booth seating was installed to create a new seating and dining area. We also carried out electrical works to the restaurant.
Our joinery workshop manufactured a new Grille counter with screen, new bar and back bar counters and feature screens that divide up the restaurant.
This project was completed in ten weeks.

Project: Restoration and Joinery Manufacture
Location: The Capitol, Union Street, Aberdeen
North Group were most recently involved in the renovation of the Capitol Cinema building on Aberdeen’s Union Street.
As part of the project North was involved in the installation of the partitions within the existing Capitol Cinema building and the new office tower at the rear, as well as supply and installation of all the timber door sets, facings, skirting, associated ironmongery and mirrors.
North Group’s bespoke joinery workshop was involved in the manufacture and installation of all the bespoke joinery items within the existing building, including the reception desk, the feature ceilings at the entrance lobby, reception lobby and Oscars lounge.
As part of the project North also completely refurbished the existing four sets of double doors on the Union street façade as well as the four internal sets, procuring replica period ironmongery.

Project: Refurbishment of Office and Warehouse
Location: Unit 2, Hareness Circle, Aberdeen
We have just completed the full refurbishment of a single storey office unit and adjoining warehouse within the last week at Hareness Circle, Aberdeen.
There were a number of elements to the refurbishment project, with the office refurbishment calling for decoration, flooring, plumbing, suspended ceiling, heating and electrical works.
Within the office area we also installed all new tea preparation points and new toilet and showering facilities.
In the adjoining warehouse we refurbished the existing floor and painted it.
We were also responsible for refurbishing the external cladding to the building and the front curtain walling of the premises.

Project: Office Fit Out
Location: Queens Road, Aberdeen
North were recently involved in an office fit out at 70 Queens Road, Aberdeen.
The fit out will saw North supply and install both glazed and solid wall demountable partitions, carry out the decoration works and also manufacture and install bespoke joinery furniture.
Client: Knight Frank
Project: Kettock Lodge
One of North's projects from this year was an entrance alteration and extension project at Kettock Lodge for Knight Frank on behalf of Aberdeen Innovation Park Limited.
The works include the removal of the existing entrance and the installation of a new extended entrance, with replacement curtaining walling, replacement stairway, with feature glass balustrade, and a decorative infinity panel and feature lighting in the reception area.
On the upper level walnut timber doors, facings and skirting were installed as well as new flooring throughout.
As a result of the high quality of work carried out above, we were subsequently requested to upgrade Suites A & B to a high specification for future leasing.
These works included decoration throughout and the installation of new carpets, ceilings and air conditioning.
Client: Aberdeen Football Club
Project: Changing Room Refurbishment
North Group was approached by Aberdeen Football Club to refurbish their home dressing room at Pittodrie Stadium. These facilities had not been updated for quite some time and the client’s brief specified a contemporary solution for 22no. changing bays, that were comfortable and practical for the players and staff.
The scope of works involved a complete package, with North Group providing concept and detailed design, manufacturing within our workshop facilities and the installation.
To achieve a higher level of comfort for the players, each bay has dividers, upholstered seat pad, a personal safe and USB ports for charging of smart devices. Aberdeen Football Club colours were used throughout and each bay had a vinyl print of the appropriate player on the back panel.
The project was completed in four weeks, ahead of schedule and within budget.
Client: International Currency Exchange
Project: New currency counter
Location: Edinburgh Airport
North were approached by International Currency Exchange (ICE) to provide design, manufacture and installation services for a new currency counter to be located in an airside location at Edinburgh airport.
From the initial client brief, a concept design was created for client and airport retail department approval. The brief sought for a contemporary aesthetic using high quality, durable materials and feature lighting that would allow the counter to stand out in the departures lounge. A variety of solid surface materials were used throughout to achieve the seamless curved desk bases and countertops.
Within 9 weeks, North successfully completed all aspects of the project including the building warrant application process.
Client: Mercure Aberdeen Caledonian Hotel (Formerly The Caledonian Thistle Hotel)
Project: Internal and External Refurbishment
North Group was appointed to update this traditional city centre hotel. We worked alongside design team Rolfe Judd to meet the criteria. The project required our expertise and skilled workforce to sympathetically update and transform 42 bedrooms with en-suites, hotel foyer, public toilets and reception.
Externally the roof was completely re-slated, granite facade cleaned and re-pointed and the windows upgraded on this Grade C listed building.
Attention to detail and constant communication with the Client and design team meant that we completed this project with our knowledge of joinery, decoration, bespoke furniture, plumbing, electrical work, ventilation, roof work and tiling – on time and within budget.

Project: First Class Lounge Fit Out
In line with the Aberdeen City Centre Regeneration Programme, Scotrail has upgraded Aberdeen Railway Station, which is now linked to the landmark Union Square Development.
North Group was the appointed contractor to carry out the new First Class Lounge fit out to architect KL Reid Associates design. This project showcases North's skills and expertise within an exciting and important development in Aberdeen City.

Project: Complete shop fit out
North Group was appointed to carry out a complete shop fit out as per the vision of local businessman Norman Esslemont and McColl Architects. The bespoke shop front and interior furniture highly demonstrates the superior quality and finish that our joinery workshop produces.
Our experienced team, who specialise in providing the full refurbishment package, completed this city centre project on time and to the expected high standard.
Client: The Aberdeen Altens Hotel (Formerly the Aberdeen Altens Thistle Hotel)
Project: Guestroom and public area refurbishment
North Group was contracted to refurbish the public toilets within the Altens Hotel. This included the installation of new sanitary ware, associated brassware, WC cubicles and vanity units. The Altens Hotel is a very busy hotel and we were appointed to update the bedrooms including en-suites and public areas to ensure a better standard of hotel for its many guests.
Project: Refurbishment and Office Alterations
North Group was awarded the contract to create a new meeting room, computer lounge and quiet area within the existing Recreation Room on the Tern Alpha Platform. Works also included refurbishment of office space and Drillers locker room. New ceilings were installed and fast clad wall panelling, Amtico floor coverings and Fire Rated custom built furniture fitted to each area. The Drillers locker room was altered to create a new office area and tea point within the existing layout. New lockers and custom built fire rated tea point cabinets were also installed.
Client: TAQA North Cormorant Platform
Project: Offshore Accommodation Refurbishment
Over a period of ten months, North Group carried out an accommodation refurbishment on the North Cormorant platform. Within this refurbishment a wide range of works were required, which included complete replacement of hot, cold and saltwater pipe works, installing new ceilings to all affected areas and refurbishment of areas such as the accommodation cabins, wet units, cabin corridors, locker room and toilets.
